VUKASOVIĆ, KOMIŽA ISLAND OF VIS
ISLAND OF VIS
In the Central Dalmatian archipelago, Vis is the southernmost and
one of the sunniest islands on the Adriatic coast. It rose from the
Adriatic Sea as a fortress and has witnessed rich and turbulent
events through the centuries. From prehistoric times and the antique
city-state of Issa, Vis lives through its fishing and communal
destiny along with traditional Mediterranean life.
LOCATION
OF THE ISLAND OF VIS
The island of Vis is
the most distant island in Central Dalmatia, 30 nautical miles from
Split on the mainland. With its 90 square kilometres of surface area
the island may not seem very large, but it will welcome you with more
than 76 nautical miles of indented coastline. The surface area of the
Vis archipelago is 103 square kilometres consisting of Vis, Biševo,
Palagruža, Sv. Andrea, Budihovac, Jabuka, Brusnik and other small
islets.
Vis has daily ferry
and catamaran connections with Split and during the summer season is
also connected with Ancona and Pescara on Italian coast.

KOMIŽA
If you are looking for a peaceful vacation in untouched nature with
crystal sea and the Mediterranean atmosphere Komiža is the right
place for you! Its charm will capture and you will return again and
again. It is situated in a bay turned westward, between hills and
the sea, like a frontier between green and blue. Long fishing
tradition is present everywhere. One of the most powerful marks is
gajeta falkuša- famous fishermen’s boat, a beacon of that tradition.
Come and enjoy wonderful sunsets, beautiful sea and air perfumed by
lemon and orange flowers and herbs.
